You Will Need
  • Plastic bottle
  • Paper maché mix
  • Paints
  • Wooden skewers
  • Liquid glue
  • Piece of wood (this will be the base for your volcano)
  • Scissors
  • Tape
  • Newspaper
  • Bowl
  • 1 cup vinegar
  • 2 - 4 tbsps baking soda
  • Red food coloring
  • Funnel

Paper Maché Mix

  • 2 cups flour
  • 4 cups water
  • Sand
  • Small plants
  • Plastic figurines

Instructions
  1. Carefully cut off the mouth of the plastic bottle.
  2. Glue the plastic bottle to the middle of your piece of wood.
  3. Using skewers, create a pyramid around the plastic bottle. Hold the skewers in place with tape.
  4. Mix together the flour and water in a bowl.
  5. Cut or tear the newspaper into strips.
  6. Dip your newspaper strips into the paper maché mix. Remove any extra mix with your fingers.
  7. Lay your strips over the skewers. Do several layers to make it nice and thick.
  8. Leave your volcano to dry overnight.
  9. Once dry, paint your volcano and the area around it.
  10. Here's where you can add sand, small plants or plastic figurines to the base of your volcano.
  11. Place the funnel into the mouth of the volcano.
  12. Pour in the baking soda.
  13. Mix red food coloring into your vinegar.
  14. Remove the funnel and carefully pour in the vinegar.
  15. Watch your volcano erupt!
