How to Draw a Penguin

STEP 1
Like any other bird, a penguin starts out as an egg, and that's true when you draw one too.
It helps to draw two circles, then connect them.
STEP 2
Next, lightly draw a center line down your egg to help show you how the penguin is standing, and another line across the face to help you draw the eyes and beak.
STEP 3
The eyes are two squashed circles stuck together, and the beak is a squashed circle too.
STEP 4
The feet are basically like flat triangles with round corners and curved edges instead.
STEP 5
The arms start just under the bottom of the beak. If the arm is straight, it's made with two straight lines coming to a point. If the arm is bent, it is drawn in two pieces (three if the wrist is bent too).
STEP 6
All of these lines have been guide lines. Artists draw guidelines to help keep the shape of their drawings correct.
Now, it's finally time to draw the detail lines on the penguin. Draw over your light lines with darker lines, erase some of the guidelines, and you're done!
STEP 7
Oh, and don't forget the tummy patch. A penguin just isn't a penguin without a white tummy patch.
